Line-up changes for Triarsi Competizione ahead of Watkins Glen
Triarsi Competizione, driver Sheena Monk, and sponsor JG Wentworth have mutually parted ways before this weekend's Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen.
The Orlando-based Ferrari customer team stated that the decision to terminate the contract "follows thoughtful discussions and an understanding of each party's evolving goals and priorities."
"We are grateful for Sheena's presence in our WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program," said Onofrio Triarsi, team principal of Triarsi Competizione. "We've shared valuable experiences together on and off the track, and we wish her all the best in whatever lies ahead."
Stevan McAleer and Mike Skeen have also departed the team as of this weekend, and the green No. 021 Ferrari 296 GT3 will have three new drivers at Watkins Glen: Two-time IMSA GTD champion Alessandro Balzan, AJ Muss and Jason Hart.
Muss makes his IMSA WeatherTech Series debut after winning the 2024 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Pro-Am title; the Olympic snowboarder turned racing driver has also raced in this year's VP Racing SportsCar Challenge GTDX class for AF Corse. Hart returns to IMSA for the first time since the 2023 Rolex 24 At Daytona, as the reigning 24H Series GT3 champion.
Monk, in a statement posted to her social media pages, said that she will return to IMSA competition but expressed frustration over the start to the year after moving teams from Gradient Racing to Triarsi Competizione in the offseason.
"The enthusiasm for our dream season in 2025 quickly reared many unforeseen circumstances. Disqualified for drive time at Daytona, a gearbox failure at Sebring, a wastegate failure off the truck in Long Beach, and an unsafe release during the race in Laguna," said Monk.
"I’m grateful to have driven the Ferrari 296 GT3 and still believe in its global prowess but accomplishing anything in this sport requires a highly functioning nucleus beyond the drivers and car.
"I don’t know if we will race again this season because our entry is now being carried on by someone else, but I’m confident that we will eventually be back one way or another. This outcome isn’t taken lightly and I would like to apologize to Stevan and Mike, IMSA, and JG Wentworth.
"Pursuing passions in life is about building camaraderie, achieving our own versions of success, and finding happiness in what we’re doing. When none of that exists, it’s time to seek another route."
