Championship contenders shine in Spring Mountain Race Series’ penultimate showdown
The second-to-last weekend of this season’s Spring Mountain Race Series showcased the best performers as racers battled it out on the Charleston Peak Full Course. With championship points tighter than ever in several classes, it all comes down to these final races to decide the champions.
The pair of Sports Car Series races delivered varied outcomes, especially in the GTL Class. The Saroyans and Michele Abbate made strong drives but just missed the podium despite some great moments. Ultimately, Gabriel Giannattasio secured third place overall after defeating Blake Olsen in Race 1, yet difficulties in Race 2 hindered a better position. Chad Lancaster had a strong weekend, finishing in second, while Blake Olsen successfully claimed the top spot once again.
Paul Chamberlain kept his momentum in the GT4 Class by earning third place and moving up in the point standings. Scott Gibson made his return to the series and came close to winning, but a setback in race 2 resulted in a second-place finish. This allowed Tom MacMillan, a regular front-runner, to secure yet another first-place victory.
In the GTU class, Kha Phan started from the back of the grid in race 1 but didn’t let that hinder his performance. He surged through the field and took second place in both races, securing P2 overall for the weekend. Following closely in third was Michael Reynolds, showcasing his consistent skills behind the wheel. Leading the pack once more was Mark Ramsey, who notched another victory.

The spotlight was on the Gold Class during the Radical Cup Challenge races as Mark Rohrwasser and Doug Ramirez battled until the final lap. Despite the spirited racing, spins in both races meant that neither managed to secure a spot on the podium. The return of Gregg Gorski and Erik Davis added significant competition within the group, as both drivers finished the weekend tied. According to the tie-breaking rule, Davis had to settle for third place, while Gorski secured second. Atop the podium was Brandon Rambo with another dominant performance, vaulting him to first place in the championship standings.

In the Silver class, Jim Mason was once more competing at the forefront with the Gold drivers. His impressive lap times are difficult to surpass, leading Brian Reynolds to finish in second place behind his longtime friend.
A new Davis, Bo, joined the Rookie class for this race weekend and made a significant debut, taking both pole position and the fastest lap in race 2. After showcasing impressive overtakes, he ultimately secured second place, while Sohaib Kureshi wrapped up his weekend in third. Jason Horwitz was once again at the top of the podium this month, with his family present to celebrate the victory.
